Training Systems Design creates learning solutions for clients in a variety of industries. When TSD wanted to improve how they collaborate with their clients, they called Metaversant.

First, Metaversant worked with TSD to understand their requirements. They needed a solution that allowed for two-way collaboration. Clients might upload source materials that TSD will use to create training solutions. They also needed a way to deliver design comps and deliverables.

Next, we installed and configured Alfresco using virtual machines on Amazon AWS. Running Alfresco in the cloud reduced TSD’s total cost of ownership and eliminated the hardware maintenance hassle. We configured Alfresco with a few of our favorite tried-and-true community-contributed add-ons to provide additional features and functionality not available out-of-the-box.

Alfresco Share was fine as a primary user interface for their internal teams. But TSD wanted something a bit more streamlined for their clients. Metaversant can build custom content-centric applications for this purpose, but TSD was looking to minimize the maintenance burden of a custom solution in favor of something more out-of-the-box. Ultimately, the winning solution was to leverage Pydio, an open source file sharing front-end that can sit on top of Alfresco (and other types of file repositories), to provide a very focused UI that clients use to upload and download files.
